Unity Grey Box Reindeer Game - Prototype Pre-release

Game functions:

Screen 1. Main Menu navigation includes - The Scenes button navigates to other games. Quit - returns to an exit screen. Help - shows game and control options; Credits - shows gaming credits list; and the Start - navigates to the first gaming, where various option buttons are present for user engagement, interaction and customisation.

Screen 2. Reindeer Game navigation includes - Left or Right, Up or Down - Reindeer actions buttons. Grow and Shrink - increase or decrease Reindeer size. Turn Left and Turn Right - rotate the Reindeer 360 degrees. Reset - returns the Reindeer to its original size and location. Menu- returns the user to the Main Menu.

Screen 3. Scene interaction and navigation include - Three new game option buttons, Tomoko, Cinzia and Noor and a Back button to return to the Main Menu.

The UX and UI Principles and Best Practices Applied:

The three Unity Grey Box scenes were designed around a Christmas theme, implementing a consistent, familiar and festive colour scheme. The mobile device layout - landscape mode, delivers a significant visual opportunity in the game space with a less cluttered environment. Users can explore the easy and common layout, navigation and game options within each scene that deliver an engaging, interactive and immersive user experience that they can expect to see and feel related to a Christmas-themed game. 

The button design is theme-related snowballs, varying in scale depending on the scene and related function. The used font "Bangers" is a standard and familiar gaming text that is legible, capitalised and complimentary to the style of 'Reindeer Magic'. The buttons effectively identify specific interactions, changing colour on Hover Over and Click. A white button will highlight red, and a red button will highlight green on Hover or solid on Click. The grouping formations in each scene are similar to many other mobile games, maintaining a logical sequence between the location and functional icons. These industry practices promote flexible and positive gameplay, and importantly, they relieve the cognitive load on users.

The three scenes implement Christmas icons, using the Reindeer as an identifiable character that can be related to Santa. The iconic colour scheme, Christmas ornaments and winter wonderland establish a festive theme, attracting users to the familiar festive Christmas game no matter their age or gender.

Love the colour theme and thought put into your scene and itch.io page. Your reindeer is super cute and I love the effort you have put into him. Also love how you've made the page header look like its part of the game, with the snowflakes looking as though they will fall into the scene.

Constructive Feedback:

Outline of the buttons are a bit fuzzy and faded, unsure if this is a style choice or not.
On hover effect makes the font very hard to read for the white to red snowballs.

Other than that, very well done!

I am fond of the chosen colour scheme and style integrated into your Christmas-themed game. All graphic elements sufficiently represent your chosen theme without leaving any grey areas. The reindeer is quite cute and stands out in your scene. The objective of the game is creative and effectively prompts the user on how to navigate through the game. 

I appreciate the fact you added a help toolbar. Your icons are easy to identify and interact with. However, the way you formatted the menubar could be reworked. Consider placing the four red buttons in the middle and 3 sets of white buttons at the top and bottom to balance the graphic elements.

In addition, the snow and stars have a weird grid pattern on them. Possibly consider fixing that to a solid white colour. Otherwise, the concept is creative and with further development, has great potential.

Good work!! I like the colour choice of white buttons (snowballs) to red as they are Christmas colours, they stands out in the scene!

Love the cute reindeer's face expression and the horns. Good colour choice, the character look great with the blue colour.

Unique positioning for the game buttons.

It is also good to see the feedback of changing the button colour (when hovering over). 

I only noticed that it might be good if the buttons still showed the text.
